Polishing the nails!

I don’t know why, but this entire collection gets me thinking of bags from Mulberry, must be the colors ;) Once again the small pictures is Depend’s own PR pics and thanks again to Star PR for sending me these to review :)

First up is No. 185 which I actually put on when I took pictures for my last post, but never got a picture of because of the light. So this is after wearing it since Saturday, 6 days and this is without a topcoat. So the chipping has been very limited and the wear ability is quite good :) I think this might be my first orange color and it took some days before I was use to it. But I actually quite like it. About 1½-2 coats to have full coverage.

No. 186 is a deep chocolate brown. The color really looks like real chocolate, hard to resist not tasting it haha :P
Really good coverage with only one coat.

No. 187 this is one of the colors that makes me think of Mulberry.
It was hard to capture the real color since the sun was setting here :( But its a nice neutral color that covers with 2 coats.

No. 188 one more of the Mulberry colors :) Think this might be a easy alternative for the much hyped
Chanel – Particulière, although this is a bit darker than the Chanel is. I am gonna do a comparison of these in another post :) This had good coverage with only one coat

No. 189 a brown/red color that gets me thinking about the dessert with red dirt on the ground, cowboy movies with native Americans and horses and gunfights. Maybe my mind is floating a bit here but that’s what I think of when I tried this color :P
I have a vivid imagination might one say :P Good coverage with 1½ coat.

No. 191 is maybe not a spring color when I look at it.. I am thinking Christmas more than spring and that’s only because of the shimmer. I think if it has been without that shimmer and just a full creme it would have been more in the springy colors.  Needed a good 2 coats for full coverage.

No. 192 last one of the bunch and I almost ran out of sun here. Thinking that’s why it differs so much from the bottle picture. When I had it on it looked a lot more flesh toned than on the picture. I really like this color, very very neutral color almost Mannequin hand like. But only almost :P

To conclude, great collection with some very nice colors in it. Good alternatives for the trends of this seasons more expensive colors :) Any questions, just leave a comment and I will do my best to answer it :)

I was gonna do all of these in one post, but do to unforeseen circumstances (the weather = no sun), I had to split it up in 2-3 posts. So starting out with the first 3 in this one :D The little pictures is Depend’s own pr-pics and a big thanks to Star PR for sending me these polishes for review :)

First up is no. 158, great creamy pink, needed a good 2-3 coats for the best coverage, Depends picture differs a very tiny bit, this is a shot in full sun so I guess why the difference is so big.

Then we have no. 184. Great lilac/grayish color. Love the dusty look on it :D Have really good coverage with 1½-2 coats and sorry for not having a sun picture of this :( Ran out of sun late in the afternoon :( If you want me to re-swatch this when theres some sun out, please write a comment, so I know if there’s anyone needing it ;)

No. 190. This is a really hard color to capture. because of its shimmer, it needed around 4 coats for this much coverage, but if you are looking for a sheer polish this is perfect. If I stopped with 1-2 coats it didn’t do much for my yellowish nails underneath, so at least 3½-4 coats for nails like mine :)

More new spring collections on the way and this one is from the Swedish brand Depend and here’s a little preview of what colors to expect in their Spring ‘10 collection :) They will be in stores at the end of this month. Looks like they are going for the natural colors, but still have some glitter and metallics. Which one do you like?

Jeg er blevet kaldt på arbejde i morgen og havde egentlig planlagt først at lave den her i morgen. Men nu smider jeg den på så der er noget at kigge på i morgen :P Det er Depends efterårs/vinter kollektion som jeg viste et billede af tidligere på ugen. Jeg fik nogen af lakkene dagen efter og har lavet nogen billeder til jer :) Det er nogen virkelig lækre farver og de dækker rigtig fint med et enkelt lag. Jeg har på de fleste dog givet 1-1½ lag for at få det hele med. Jeg er især vild med den blå, den er rigtig fin og jeg har beholdt den på, så må vi se om den blir bemærket på jobbet. Og det var rart at der var lidt sol i dag så jeg kunne få nogen billeder med ordentlig lys på! :D

Og nu vil jeg gå i seng, godnat! :)

I got called into work tomorrow and was planning on doing this post at some time tomorrow. But I will do it now so you will have something to look at :P The Depend collection I showed a picture of in the beginning of the week I got some off right after that and now I made some swatches for you to see :) Its some really nice colors and they cover the nail really good with a single layer. But on most of them I put on 1-1½ layer just to get it covered really good. I am especially crazy about the blue, its really nice and I kept on for work tomorrow. Today the sun was finally out so I think i got some real nice pictures this time. Good with some proper light for once! :D

Tusind tak til Star PR for at sende mig nogen prøver :)

Jeg har været så heldig at få lov til at prøve et nyt produkt fra Depend. Helle fra Star PR var så sød og kontakte mig og spørge om jeg havde lyst til at prøve lidt nyheder og det vil jeg da ikke sige nej til ;) Undskylder på forhånd for gule negle :P
Tippen virker lidt ligesom en rette/slettelak. Man trykker tippen ned i 2-3 sekunder så der kan løbe lak ned til spidsen. Det skulle jeg lige prøve et par gange før jeg havde helt styr på hvor meget der kom ud.

Jeg er ikke en der er særlig vild med fransk manicure faktisk. Nok mest fordi når mine negle ikke har lak på, så er de ret gule i det. Og det er jo primært fordi jeg skifter lak stort set hver dag og så bliver de altså gule. Også selvom man bruger underlak. Og det gør jeg ALTID så det er en myte hvis man tror man kan undgå det. Desværre :(

Nå men prøves skal det i hvert fald! Fordi det er nu meget pænt når man altså har alm. farvede negle ;) Jeg havde nogen manicure skabeloner så dem prøvede jeg på 2 af neglene og lavede fri hånd på de sidste to. Og må sige at det bliver en del pænere med fri hånd, det kan man også se på nogen af nærbillederne at der er en kant på dem hvor at der var skabelon på. Så der vil jeg helt klart anbefale at bruge fri hånd. Og ja min lillefinger stritter, lidt kongelig har man vel lov til at være :P
Her ses kanten rigtig tydeligt efter jeg har pillet skabelonen af. Hvor at der på den til venstre er en meget blødere kant.

Her har jeg rettet lidt til forskellige steder med pennen og nedenunder er der så kommet en overlak på. Den tar faktisk de skarpe kanter ret godt.

Her kan man næsten ikke se forskellen på den der er lavet i fri hånd og efter skabelon.
Fri hånd til venstre og skabelon til højre. Så overlakken hjælper en del.

Og det færdige resultat lidt på afstand. Jeg synes produktet virker helt fint og efter hensigten, så vil da klart anbefale den hvis man godt vil lave en fransk manicure relativt let. Det er i hvert fald meget lettere end at gøre det med en hvid lak med penslen. Pegefingeren er den eneste finger hvor der ikke rigtig var noget af det hvide på neglen der var groet ud. Så man kan sagtens bruge det selvom man ikke har specielt lange negle. Men som sagt jeg vil nok først bruge den når mine negle ikke er så gule igen :) Og jeg kunne sikkert have lavet det her meget bedre hvis jeg lidt oftere lavede franske negle. Så syntes egentlig resultatet er helt ok for en fransk rookie at være ;)

One of the new Barry M’s I got home last week. Just a plain and simple grey color. But I really like it. It’s easy to put on and I only used 1½ coats on these pictures. Its a bit more dark on the nails that it is in the bottle.

And then some (new/old)news for the Scandinavians, well mostly Danes. I just received this picture today with the autumn/winter 09 collection and I can see I already have some favorites. I think the collection have been out for some time now, but only recently came to DK, so you should be able to find them in Matas, that is the only one in DK selling them. I will definitely have to go out and get some of these, that’s for sure :)

I just love the effects of the flakes has.. Sorta rainbow colored in the light :D We looove flakes <3 Anyway Nubar - Noir is a really good black color and can only recommend it ;) Oh yeah... my index fingernail broke last night.. thats why is so short :(

I saw a similar post on another nail blog some time ago, I’m sorry I cant remember which. And that made me look at some old photos from when I started blogging until today. And I must say i have improved my polishing skills.. quite a bit ;) I can now make a fresh mani that is not all over my cuticles in about 5-10 minutes.. As to before it took me(If it were to be just a bit nice) about half to a full hour(maybe sometimes even more :o).

So lets see one of the first on the blog

This is if I have to say myself.. awful when i look at it now.. To much of my hand on the picture and polish all over the place.
Although I have never been that bad at putting it on I have never been anywhere near what I see on Scrangie, Vampy Varnish and all the other “pro nailers” out there. Have to be honest I couldn’t even figure out how they could make the manis so nice. Buuut somehow as I’m getting better at putting on polish it stays inside the lines.. so to speak ;) I also used that trick of putting nailoil around the edges but it didn’t really work for me. So I just got a steadier hand which is nice now ;)

So to conclude.. i guess practice makes perfect or at least better…. :P

I made a little circle with my Barry M’s :D And i guess its not so hard to guess which color is my favorite ;)

The small polkadot bag can hold exactly 12 Barry M’s so i usually take that with me if im going somewhere for a longer period.
I know its not the worlds largest collection, but its so hard to find the good brands in Denmark, have to order them home from US and it can be so damn expensive. So i get my more expensive brands through Nailmail.se(this is such a great concept btw, subscription to nailpolish, sent in the mail to you.. whats not to love? :D).

I was a nail biter until very recently. :o ye I know shocking aint it? :P but somehow when I got more in to polish I just stopped.. have no idea how, guess having some pretty nails was more appealing to me then flossy short nails.

I cut my nail when I think they get to long. I don’t like too long nails… not on me at least.. maybe because I have so chubby fingers.. haha ;D

And I think thats enough with the facts :P
